Now that the deadline for Webb’s Cycle 6 Call for Proposals has passed, I wanted to share a couple of brief announcements that you may have missed. The first is a final call for registrations for the Rocky Worlds Workshop at STScI in November, with more details here. Secondly, there is an open call for White Papers for Multi-Cycle Treasury (MCT) Programme Concepts for JWST, about which you can read more here.
On Hubble, Cycle 34 will start soon on 1 November 2026. At 7:1 for the available orbits, the oversubscription for General Observer (GO) programmes in Cycle 34 was even greater than last year. Of the approved GO programmes, 23% were led by PIs in the ESA Member States, for a total of 17% of the orbits. I’m looking forward to what Hubble will reveal to us next in the coming year, and my sincere thanks to those of you who served on the Cycle 34 Telescope Allocation Committee in June. A detailed report on the Cycle 34 proposal selection is available here.
The next Space Telescope Users Committee (STUC) meeting will take place at STScI in November, and the JWST Users Committee (JSTUC) will meet in early December. As European users of Hubble and Webb, if you have comments or perspectives that you would like to raise with either committee, please contact one of the ESA-appointed representatives, as listed here and here.
Lastly, if you have exciting new Hubble or Webb results that you think would have wider public appeal, please get in touch with us at [email protected]. In addition, we are always on the look-out for good image candidates for both our ESA/Hubble and ESA/Webb Picture of the Month series; if you have suggestions from your programmes, we’d also love to hear from you at the same email address.

The ongoing Rocky Worlds Director’s Discretionary Time (DDT) programme is combining Hubble and Webb's unique capabilities for exoplanet science to search for evidence of atmospheres on rocky exoplanets in orbit around nearby M-dwarf stars.
In May this year, STScI launched the Rocky Worlds DDT Data Challenge to engage the exoplanet user community in the analysis …

STScI has issued a call for White Papers for compelling scientific ideas for Multi-Cycle Treasury (MCT) programmes that require large allocations of JWST time to complete.
Now in its fifth year of regular science operations, JWST’s exceptional capabilities have opened a vast new discovery space that has enabled rapid scientific breakthroughs in nearly all areas …
