Wish Hubble a Happy Birthday!

10 April 2020

While many of us are staying at home during these challenging times, ESA/Hubble is inviting you to get creative to celebrate Hubble’s upcoming 30th birthday!

On 24 April 2020, the NASA/ESA Hubble Space Telescope will be celebrating 30 years of science discoveries that have revolutionised nearly all areas of current astronomical research, from planetary science to cosmology, and its countless pictures that are unmistakably out of this world.

ESA/Hubble has launched various initiatives to celebrate this special occasion, and the latest project invites ESA/Hubble’s social media followers to wish Hubble a Happy 30th birthday by preparing a birthday cake.

You can make your cake out of traditional kitchen ingredients, or we also invite you to get creative by making a unique birthday cake made from other materials, such as paper, crafts, modelling clay, or Lego blocks!

We invite you to share your creations with us by taking a picture or video of your creation with the message “Happy Birthday Hubble from <your country or city>!” (in English or your native language) and sharing it on social media using #Hubble30BDayCake and #Hubble30 as follows:

  • On Facebook, post your image or video as a comment to one of our posts announcing this initiative
  • On Twitter simply post your image or video with the hashtags #Hubble30BDayCake and #Hubble30. If you wish you can also tag us @Hubble_space
  • On Instagram post your image or video with the hashtags #Hubble30BDayCake and #Hubble30. You can also tag us using @hubbleesa.

By submitting your material you agree that ESA/Hubble may use some of it to showcase this initiative. Underage children should participate in the activity under the supervision and consent of a parent or legal guardian. This activity is in no way sponsored, endorsed, administered by or associated with Facebook, Twitter or Instagram. Users must obey the Facebook Community rules, the Twitter community rules and the Instagram community rules at all times. Any personal information shared with us during this activity will be used solely for the purpose of the initiative.
