Starry, Starry Night

This illustration from a hypothetical planet in a distant ultra-dense galaxy reveals a sky packed with thousands of stars. There are 200 times more stars in this sky than in our Earth's night-time sky. The ultra-dense galaxies existed about 11 billion years ago. They are a fraction of the size of today's galaxies but contain the same number of stars.
